The Firm provides legal representation to individuals concerning bankruptcy or companies dealing with voluntary or involuntary winding-ups.
We are able to advise all creditors with regard to recovery in bankruptcy or winding-up proceedings. In winding-up proceedings, where Liquidators are appointed by the Court, we also regularly advise Creditors on whether such conduct of the Liquidator is beneficial to the client and other creditors in the winding-up process.
In situations where such conduct by the Liquidator is detrimental to the general well-being of the winding-up process, the firm has been retained to deal with highly contentious and complex proceedings for the removal of such Liquidators.
The Firm also regularly acts for Court Appointed Liquidators, advising them in their conduct of liquidating a wound-up Company. Here, the work undertaken may include among others the following:

Construction (Adjudication)
The Firm provides legal representation for clients in initiating and/or defending Adjudication claims under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012.
Contractual, Commercial & CORPORATE Disputes
The Firm regularly provides legal solutions to clients dealing with all forms of contractual and commercial issues.

In situations where there is a breakdown of governance in a corporate setting, we are also able to advise on Boardroom disputes or disputes between the majority and minority Shareholders.

Over the years, the Firm has been appointed as Panel Solicitors for various Insurance Companies in all forms of claims brought by third parties against insurers.
We have also since gained vast experience in advising and defending the interest of Insurance Companies in a variety of Personal Injury Claims.
The Firm has also been regularly retained by the Royal Australian Air Force (Penang) and Commonwealth of Australia in matters concerning Motor and Non-motor Insurance claims.
We also regularly act for individuals who have been exposed to Personal Injury as a result of an accident. These claims for damages brought against Insurers on behalf of our clients may be due to among others, motor vehicle collisions, workplace accidents, occupier’s liability and negligence.
Family Law
The Firm is regularly retained by couples going through a divorce where terms can be agreed upon and formalised in Court through a Joint Divorce Petition.
We also act for individuals going through heavily contested divorces in Court by way of Divorce Petitions. Here, the issues of conflict between the couple can relate to among others division of matrimonial assets, custody of children and claims of maintenance by either party.
For cases concerning Adoption, the Firm is also regularly retained by couples desirous on adopting a child as their own. Here, we will assess each couple’s needs and advise them on the Adoption process which may include formalising the Adoption through Court proceedings.
Mediation
The Firm also encourages clients to consider Alternative Dispute Resolution given the circumstances. With the agreement of both parties, we are able to conduct Mediation in order to resolve the dispute amicably.
For example, in Divorce proceedings where disputes can be acrimonious and associated with heavy financial and emotional costs, the firm encourages couples to undergo Mediation before initiating any form of Court proceedings.
On a case to case basis, we may also encourage our clients in any Civil, Corporate or Commercial dispute to consider Mediation if circumstances permit.
In Mediation, proceedings are conducted in absolute privacy where the focus is always on identifying solutions on resolving a dispute. The Firm is able to undertake the role of Mediator where the focus is on facilitating the discourse and ensuring that the best possible outcome of a negotiated settlement is reached for the disputing parties.
Unlike Court proceedings where the final decision always rests with the Judge, disputing parties are actively involved in the decision-making process for all matters in Mediation.
Conveyancing
The Firm is regularly retained by the Commonwealth of Australia in matters pertaining to Tenancies and Sub sale of properties.
The Firm has handled a matter relating to the Sale and Purchase of property for the amount of RM 4,288,272.00 for the Purchaser(s), Trustees of the Assemblies of God of Malaysia.
We have also handled a purchase of approximately RM5,000,000.00 for the above clients.
The Firm has also acted for a company (in liquidation) in the sale and purchase of properties in excess of RM25,000,000.00.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Yayasan Bantuan Guaman Negara (YBGK - National Legal Aid Foundation)
Dato' Tharuma is a registered lawyer with the YBGK, a National Foundation that provides free legal services in Criminal Matters for members of the public who are in need and cannot afford to pay legal fees.
The legal services provided by the Firm through YBGK, receives nominal payments from the Foundation.
YBGK matters form part of the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

Dato' Tharuma is also a volunteer lawyer dealing with all sorts of Civil disputes in the Subordinate and High Courts and relevant Tribunals.
